Teresa Jane Laird

Passed away at the age of 86, Friday January 20, 2012 at Vernon Hospice House.

Born March 10, 1925 in Vancouver, B.C. to Ed and Winnifred Trayling. Predeceased by her father, mother and identical twin sister Audrey.

Survived by her husband of 67 years David, children Maureen (John), David (Leslie), Barbara (Joe), six grandchildren, six grandchildren and one expected, and younger sister Winnifred Gilson.

First kissed her future husband at age of 9 when he was 11. Trained in the family jewelry manufacturing business becoming a talented hand engraver. Married David Laird November 25, 1944 while he was on leave from his army posting in the Maritimes. They settled in their childhood neighborhood in Vancouver among family and friends to eventually raise their 3 children. With David moved to Vernon in the early 1990’s. Was a member of the 899 North Okanagan Wing of the Air Force Association of Canada, enjoying her time on the phoning committee. She filled her life with career, family, love of walking, reading and knitting until recent years.

Donations can be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Vernon Hospice House or charity of your choice. A celebration of life is planned in May with the date to be announced.
