Family and friends are extremely sad to announce the sudden passing of our mother and friend, Thelma Wagner on Sunday, January 24, 2010.
Thelma will be lovingly remembered by three daughters Barbara (Larry) Rodgers, Shelly (Mel) Gowing and Sheila (Darryn) Schneider; five grandchildren Michelle, Matt and Marc Wagner, Garnette and Christopher Gowing, daughter-in-law Terry Wagner; brothers Earle (Maureen) Gurney and Roy Van Oene; sister Della (Brian) Merrick. Predeceased by son Robert Wagner, son-in-law David Gowing, sisters Joey Vizzutti and Carley Gurney.
Thelma was born on May 26, 1936 at Fernie, BC. Eventually the family moved and settled in the Powell River Southview area when Thelma was a child. She met her husband Wilf in 1951, they married on February 14, 1953, and live at Mt. Lehman. In 1956 they bought a dairy farm at Williams Lake where they pasteurized, bottled and sold milk for several years while raising three children. In the spring of 1959 the cattle were sold and the family ended up in the Rogers Pass while Wilf worked on the snow shed for the summer. In September of 1961 they moved to Armstrong and bought a dairy farm where the fourth child was born in 1963. They lived at the diary farm until 1977 when Bob took it over. Wilf and Thelma moved to Rosedale Avenue East where, over the next few years, they had a riding arena and horses.
Thelma enjoyed playing fastball, gardening, knitting, sewing and was a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for many years. She always wanted to be a hairdresser and loved doing the families haircuts.
