We regret to announce the passing of Theodora “Doreen” van Oyen in
Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 at the age
of 84 years.
Doreen was predeceased by her husband, John in 1996 after 49 years
of marriage. She is survived by one son, Frank (Debbie) of Westbridge,
B.C., four daughters: Marlies (Doug) Jordan of Mission, B.C., Sue (Gord)
Matovich of Vernon, B.C., Petronella (Dominic Smith) van Oyen of
Duncan, B.C., Lexie van Oyen of Vernon, B.C., eleven grandchildren:
Clark, Graeme, Julie, Ryan (Kim), Kent, Becci (Brant) Corder, Duncan,
Mehgan, Sylvia (Jeremy) Van Dekerkhove, Nick (Kelly Sabutsch), and
Denzel, two great grandchildren: Ethan Corder and Claire Corder as
well as numerous other relatives in Holland.
Doreen was a longstanding member of various Women’s Institute
Chapters including Westwold, Westbank and most recently Coldstream.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 in the
chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Roy
White offifi ciating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
The reception will be held in the Pleasant Valley Tea Room.
In lieu of flfl owers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions
in memory of Doreen may do so to the Vernon Special Olympics.
