Thomas Morris Balfour

August 14, 1940 - November 26, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Thomas Morris Balfour announce his passing on November 26, 2019. Tom passed at the Vernon Hospice House with loved ones at his side. We are grateful for the care he received while there. Left to carry on his spirit are his partner, Evelyn Torrance, his daughter Kelly (Bob) Bibby, his son, Kevin (Christine) Balfour, grandchildren Ashley (Tyler) Willan, Josh (Kristy) Bibby, Sean Bibby and Rachel Bibby.
His great-grandchildren Nixon, Madden, Bodin, Isaiah, Mila and Josie, the mother of his children, Peggy Balfour, his sisters Muriel (Oscar) Vigdal, Dorreen (George) Kantz and brothers Barry (Rose) Balfour and Gerald (Carol) Balfour as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Gladys and Patrick Balfour, brother Ron, sister Terry and grandson Joel Balfour.
Tom was born at home in LePas, Manitoba on August 14, 1940. His family moved to BC when he was young. He was always involved in sports growing up and played junior hockey for some time. Tom and his family moved to Vernon in 1970, where he worked at various construction and paving jobs and was an owner of Capital Taxi. He continued to be involved in sports, both playing and officiating in hockey and baseball. He was a cowboy at heart, owning horses and cattle and running small farms throughout his life; loved to grow vegetables and was a garlic farmer. He also loved to fish and told many stories of his adventures on the water. In Tom's later years he was involved with the Eagles club and their charity work.
Tom was often the life of the party - never a dull moment. In honor of that, his last party will be his celebration of life that will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019, 1- 4 pm at the Eagles Hall. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Tom to the Vernon Hospice House.
