December 22, 1946 - January 19, 2021
With great sadness we announce the passing of Thomas Peter Curtis at the age of 74 years. He was born to Ray and Dora Curtis in Williams Lake, B.C. and spent most of his life there. Tom was one of twelve children and grew up surrounded by many siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tom will be greatly missed by his two kids, Dan (Stephanie) and Tracy (Peter); six grandkids, Amy, Jeffrey, Christopher, Michael, Melissa and Leo; three sisters, Mildred, Donna-Rae (Tommy) and Jackie (Buzzi); and numerous nieces, nephews and many close friends he considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Dora; siblings, Reta, Harry, Darrel, Darwin, Raymond, Owen, Charlie and Darlene.
Kind and genuine describes our Dad best and he was a gentleman true to the word. He had time for everyone and loved to visit. When we were kids it was impossible to shop with him at Botanio Mall because he would run into a friend, neighbour, relative or fishing buddy every ten or so feet and stop for a good visit. Tom loved kayaking and fishing in summer, badminton and curling in the winter and especially enjoyed trips to Bella Coola fishing with his good friends.
Dad spent a lot of time volunteering at the Legion and enjoyed many good meals and evenings on the dance floor there. He was interested and very knowledgeable in the history of Williams Lake and spent many years volunteering at the Museum of the Cariboo-Chilcotin as well.
Some of his happiest times in recent years were visits to see his grandkids who adored him and revelled in time spent with Grandpa Tom. He loved time at his cabin at Canim Lake, entertaining friends and family, exploring the area by kayak or foot, helping out a neighbour or just relaxing with a glass of wine by the water and enjoying the view.
Dad spent his last days in the wonderful care of amazing people at the North Okanagan Hospice. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Tom to North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4.

In respecting Tom's wishes, he was cremated. Due to the COVID-19 Health Order that limits the number of those present at a public gathering, only Tom's immediate family were present at a Funeral Service which was held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 at 11 am with Deacon Paul Murphy officiating. A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held in Williams Lake this summer.
