Thomas Mann Tyson
July 13, 1926 – June 7, 2006
We regret to announce the passing in the Vernon Hospice House on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 of Thomas Mann Tyson (Tom) at the age of 79 years; surrounded by family; fought a courageous battle of cancer for 15 years.
Tom is survived by his only daughter Bev (Dan) Besler of Vernon; 3 grandsons William, Tyson and Ryan Besler all of Vernon; 1 sister Shirley Onstot of New Westminster; 2 brothers-in-law Don MacDonald and Bill Inglis all of Vernon; 1 sister-in-law Jean Inglis of Trail. Tom was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Irene, in 2003; also predeceased by his parents and brother.
Tom was involved for many years in several organizations. Tom was very instrumental in the building of Lakeview baseball diamonds as he was president of minor baseball for several years in the mid 1960’s and was also responsible for the first sponsorship and uniforms in the Little League Baseball; also involved with the Elks, Royal Canadian Legion, held a president position, Korea Vets and the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry, Legion cribbage and a member at the Spallumcheen Golf Course for the last twenty years plus.
Everything Dad did he did with a passion whether it be building of Lakeview Park or his involvement with the Cairn at the Army Camp in Vernon or just building the fence at the lake. He did everything with passion of love.
Memorial Service will be held at the Best Western Vernon Lodge on Monday, June 12 at 2 p.m.; Brian Jackson officiating. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Vernon Hospice House. Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home 250-542-0155. Condolences may be sent to www.vernonfuneralhome.com
