February 10, 2019
Born in Minnesota 1923, Tret died peacefully the evening of Feb 10th. Her daughters Penny and Denise tended her well in her last hours. Rumor has it her husband Jim was waiting patiently to escort her across.

Daughters Patti and Denise being nurses were a huge blessing over the years. Her oldest son Mel was still her baby boy. Her deceased son Miles was remembered often. She still insisted her youngest daughter Dawn call her as soon as she got home safely after their visits. A caring parent to the end of her journey. The last phone calls with her family were rather interesting as her hearing aids were often not turned on, but laughter and love are great memories to part on. The love Tret had for her entire family kept her rooted here until the age of 96.

She was a young wife to James Elwood Paton. A mother extraordinaire to Melvin Paton (Velma), Penny Wolgemuth (Don), Patti Pierce, Denise Nelson, Miles Paton and Dawn Robirtis (Keray), mother-in-law to Janis Deardoff. A sister to August, Ken, Edith, Lorraine, Cora and Bernice.

An aunt, a grandmother and to her great grandchildren a "Grandma Great!" A friend and second mother to many. Tret is survived by 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren whom she loved to the moon and back. Tret was known as "sweet," and she definitely was, however when she didn't like something you knew it. Until recently if you called during wheel of fortune or jeopardy, she often didn't pick up. She was as sharp as a pin right to the end. She often said "if you don't know, do that google thing."

Mom you chose to take up little space in this world and that space gave us all room to grow into individuals. You didn't demand anything, but you certainly defended your family fiercely. You were wise and very strong in a quiet way. That is rare. You kept us close and loved us well. You are forever in our hearts.

A big thanks to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the wonderful care during Moms final days. Also, a warm thank you to all of the staff at the Vernon Restholm for providing an extended family to our Mom and a home where she felt very comfortable. She loved you all. The Community Care staff were angels on earth, thank you so much for what you do. As per Moms request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Vernon Restholm are greatly appreciated. 1-250-542-7636.
