Ursula Dorothea Charlotte Schimanski

was born on April 14th, 1926 in Labes, Germany, daughter of Friedrich Franz and Martha Emma Elisa Paulat and passed away on August 27th, 2009 in the North Okanagan Hospice House, Vernon, B.C. at the age of 83 years.

Dorothy is survived by her loving son, George Klaus (Sandy) Schimanski of Coldstream, B.C. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Raimund Schimanski in 1984 and her brother Horst Paulat.

Dorothy and family came to Vernon from Germany in 1952. She worked in the historic Vernon Steam Laundry for many years before moving to Kitimat and then to Vancouver. She and her husband returned to Vernon in 1973 where she worked at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for ten years prior to her retirement. Dorothy had a very strong work ethic and was an avid gardener.

Cremation preceded a private Graveside Service which will be held when she is laid to rest in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery beside her husband Raimund. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Dorothy to the Vernon Jubilee
