VERA CONSTANCE SWENSON (nee. Kemp) 1918-2006
Vera passed away peacefully on August 11, 2006 at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. She was predeceased by Glen, her husband of 59 years and her twin sister Ethel. She is survived by her children Valerie, Ollie and Janice (Allan), her brother Stan (Kathleen), cousins in Canada and England, her step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews from Glen’s side of the family. Vera was born and raised in England except for four years which were spent in Australia. She served in the ATS during World War II and during that time, she met and married a Canadian soldier, Glen Swenson. After the war, Vera sailed into Pier 21 in Halifax as a War Bride and started Canadian life in Saskatchewan. Eventually, she, Glen and the children moved to B.C. and she has spent the last 12 years living in Lumby. A celebration of Vera’s life will be held at St. James the Less Anglican Church in Lumby on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to the First Memorial Funeral Services in Kelowna.
