WHITE, Vera Bessie

1916 –2012

With sadness, we regret to announce the passing of Vera Bessie White, at the age of 95 years, at Nakusp, BC on August 4th, 2012. She was born on December 17th, 1916 in Hullcar, BC. Vera was the last remaining grandchild of the late Charles and Philomene Ashton, original settlers of Ashton Creek. She was raised in Hullcar and Ashton Creek and attended High School in Enderby. Vera became a nursery aid in Chilliwack General Hospital. Later she became a receptionist at the Kamloops Ministry of Forests where she met and later married Fred White in 1963. When they moved to Victoria, she took up water colour painting . When Fred retired, they moved to Vernon and traveled throughout the BC interior in their camper. They also made visits to Winnipeg and England to see Fred’s family. She will be fondly remembered by friends and numerous nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 2012 at Cliffside Cemetery, 169 Enderby-Grindrod Road, Enderby, BC. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation in Vera’s memory to Minto House, PO Box 87, Nakusp, BC V0G 1R0
