Verne was born in the old Enderby Hospital, the son of Audrey and Rosa Baird.
He lived in the Okanagan all his life, working as a truck driver. He enjoyed spending time on the road and travelled extensively in BC, Alberta and parts of the American Southwest. He liked to take the rough routes and back roads in life and this got him to some amazing places. Days and nights were mostly spent alone, but what stories he had to tell when he returned from his travels.
Verne had a son, Jeff, (deceased) and a daughter, Jennifer who loved him very much for who he was. He is survived by his brother, Tom (Carine) Baird, and sisters Diane (Art) Norlin, Opal (Doug) McManus and Margaret Baird. He is gone on down another road, but always returns in our memories.
