Vernon Frederick Kentel was called home by his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Aged 85 years.
Vern will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by wife Brigid of Enderby; children Maureen Stevens (Darren) of Kelowna, Miles (Shelley) Kentel of Salmon Arm, Cherie (Gary) Castonguay of Kamloops, Dwight (Sharon) Kentel of Ardrie, AB, Mark (Mandy) Kentel of Sardis and Becca Kentel of Enderby; son-in-law Rodney (Carol) Burns; grandchildren Aaron, Ashlee, Everett, Miranda, Travis, Sierra, Randi, Taylor, Danielle, Kari and Derek; great grandchildren Emily, Troy, Boden and Kylee; brothers Wallace Kentel of Medicine Hat, Murvyn (Shirley) Kentel of Kelowna and Ray (Margaret) Kentel of Salmon Arm; sisters Adeline (Gordon) Schentag of Regina and Betty-Ann (Peter) Petz of Medicine Hat; uncle Harold (Claire) Kentel of Edmonton; nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by parents Valentine and Elizabeth, first wife Hertha, infant son David, daughter Connie and brother Clifford. Vernon was born in Saskatchewan on July 18, 1924. He served overseas in the Armed Forces and was a prisoner of war. Vernon returned home to Saskatchewan where he worked for John Deer and mined at Esterhazy. Moving to Salmon Arm he operated his own Chevron Service Station. Vernon was devoted to his family and church. Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Society of BC, 208 – 1600 W 6 Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6J 1R3. Funeral Service will be held at Deo Lutheran Church, 1801- 30 Street NE, Salmon Arm, on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Mt. Ida Cemetery. Pastor Al Pinno officiating.
