Victor Polichek

Captain Victor Tony Polichek passed away peacefully

at his home on Monday, October 20, 2008. Vic will

be lovingly remembered by his wife Dorothy of

Vernon; children Anita Shumay, Ron Boyce and

Gerry Boyce; seven grandchildren – Jason, Carrie,

David, Brandie, Kathleen, Verity and Hillary; three

great grandchildren Kurtis, Madison and Nicola;

nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by

three brothers – Nick, Elmer and John. Vic was the

last of his family. He was raised in the Armstrong

area and at age 18 signed up with the Royal Canadian

Air Force. Vic was very proud of his service in World

War II as a Tail Gunner and regaled his family with

many stories from the war. In 1945, Vic returned to

Armstrong from overseas. He and his high school

sweetheart Dorothy Pritchard were married in 1958,

they lived in Quesnel for four years before moving to

Vernon where they have resided since. Vic worked at

Watkin Motors and for Okanagan Telephone before

retiring in 1990. He was active in the community,

spent countless hours volunteering with the Air

Cadets, belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion

and the Army Navy Airforce Club. Vic was a loving

husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly

missed. A Memorial Service will be held at the Army

Navy Airforce Veterans Club, 2:00 p.m., Saturday,

October 25, 2008. In lieu of fl owers, donations may

be made to the Army Navy Airforce Veterans Club

or the Royal Canadian Legion. Arrangements in
