1931 – 2015
It is with heavy hearts the family of Victoria McGregor (nee Terlesky) announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, great grandmother & aunt on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Vickie was born on the family farm in Buchanan, Saskatchewan on May 12, 1931. She remained in Sask and moved to Kamloops with her sister where she worked and met her husband Jack McGregor. In the years to follow they lived in several communities throughout BC before settling in Armstrong with their 4 children in 1974. After moving to Prince George for several years, Vickie (also known as Gramma Perogy) returned to Armstrong in 2006 to be closer to her children & grandchildren. During the last 7 years Vickie’s home was at Abbeyfield in Armstrong with her friends. She was well known for her baking including cookies, cabbage rolls, beatniks, croutons and of course perogies. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, bingo, crocheting and playing cards. She also enjoyed her job at Rosedale Grocery and becoming involved with her sons’ baseball leagues. Mom loved watching the Blue Jays and cheered them on right up to the end. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Vickie is lovingly remembered by Jack, her four children: Sheila Nystoruk (Brian), Pat McGregor (Nancy), Brenda Fowler (Gene), Gary McGregor (Heather); 11 grandchildren: Tyler, Ryan, Travis, Megan, Michael, Kerriann, Darren, Jenna, Kerry, Kristin and Shannon; and two great-grandchildren: Lilliah and Jace; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She now joins her parents, brothers, sisters and an infant daughter, Patricia and can rest in peace.
At mom’s request there will be no service but the family will be holding an informal celebration of life in her honour.
Her children would like to extend sincere thanks to her Abbeyfield family for the caring and loving home she enjoyed so much and the beautiful friends she cherished there.
Also a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Aucamp and the doctors and nurses of 2 East in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital who not only cared for our mom but showed such compassion and kindness, becoming a part of our family.
Our angel now has her wings.
