Mar 24, 2018
Vincent Enquist passed away peacefully in his home on March 24, 2018 following a brief but valiant fight with cancer. Vincent had recently celebrated his 91st birthday.

Vincent is survived by his wife & best friend of 62 years, Joan Enquist (nee Hogue), daughter Liz (Ron) Hromek of Vernon [grandchildren Natasha and Dirk Friedrichsen], son Cliff (Fara) of Grand Forks [grandchildren Eric (Jenica & children Leo & Alba), Hayden, Alan, Isak (Eowynn)] and son Evan (Tammy) of Surrey [grandchildren Lauren, Alanna & Brandon].  Also surviving him is his elder brother Earl Enquist of Courtenay and younger sister Shirley Shoemaker of Powell River.

Vincent was born and raised in Minnedosa, MB where he farmed, worked for the Co-Op then operated Vince's Diner & Bus Depot. In 1972 the family relocated to Chilliwack, BC where Vince worked in property management, ending his working career with BC Housing, managing buildings in Surrey and Vancouver area. In 1994 Vince and Joan retired to the Okanagan settling in Enderby, then in Grand Forks.

Family was very important to Vincent. He was very proud of his family and always interested in what his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were doing. He was a great supporter, offering a bit of wisdom, a helping hand or encouragement whenever needed as they progressed through life.

Vince was best known for his love of buying and selling. He could usually be found on Saturdays either holding or shopping garage sales or he loved to attend auctions.

Vince and Joan were active in their church community, attending faithfully, supporting their local congregation and volunteering in various church and community activities. Vince had developed more of a spiritual awareness and relationship with Jesus in his last years and as his energy declined he was looking forward to his "promotion to glory" to be with his Saviour.

A special thank you to Interior Health Home Support Services for the attentive and compassionate home care Vincent received. Through their care, and with Joan by his side, he was able to stay at home until he passed.

While we will miss him here on earth, we are rejoicing with Vincent in his presence with the Lord. A service of remembrance will be held for Vincent on June 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm, at First Baptist Church in Grand Forks, BC.
