Viola “Vi” Edith Schalin
1945 – 2011
On January 24, 2011 Viola “Vi” Edith Schalin suddenly went to be with her Lord and Savior in Vernon BC surrounded by her family. Vi will be missed by her two sons Aaron (Elizabeth) and Aubrey (Nikki); grandchildren Ethan, Ruben, Eden, Aspen, Navi, Boden; sister Helen (Gerry) Haugen of Kamloops BC; brothers Robert (Gail) Morrison of Cold Lake AB, Ernest (Susan) Morrison of Lasqueti Island BC; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father Frank in 1969 and mother May in 2003. Vi was born in Vernon on November 27, 1945 and grew up in Winfield, BC and later graduated with a nursing degree from the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops, BC. She married Jim Schalin April 16, 1971 in Vernon and moved to their farm at Mabel Lake where they’ve dairy farmed for almost 40 years. Vi will always be remembered for being unselfish, practical, a wonderful listener and very hospitable among her many other talents and interests in life. Vi will be greatly missed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Memorial Service and Tea will be held at the Enderby Evangelical Chapel (708 Mill Avenue, Enderby BC) on Monday January 31, 2011 @ 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations in honor of Vi be made to the Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanspurse.ca).
