January 16, 1917 – April 1, 2009
Vi passed away Wednesday, April 1at the age of 92 in Brookhaven Care Centre surrounded by family and a wonderful caring staff. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Bunnie, son-in-laws Lawrence and Art/Janice, grandchildren Tony/Michelle, Darcie/Mike, Jackie, Brian/Shannon, great grandchildren Caspar, Chris, Jeremy, Sean, Amanda, Tyler, Joshua, Colin, Alexa and Jordyn. She was predeceased by son Brian, daughter Maren and husband Bert.
Vi was born in Assiniboia, Sask. To Axel & Aline Rasmussen and was the 3rd oldest of 12. She will be sorely missed by sister Yvonne/Delmar Dosch, and brothers Delbert, Elvin/Delores, Glen/Cecil, Roger/Joyce and sister-in-laws Lillian, Bonnie & Lorraine Martin. She was predeceased by brothers Adrien/Virginia, Maurice, Clay, Jerry, sisters’ Audrey, Gladys/Ed Kaburd and sister-in-law Irene.
Vi was married to husband Bert for 68 years and had daughter Maren and twins Brian and Bunnie. They were posted to Vancouver during the war then it was back to Sask. in 46 to own and operate a John Dear dealership. They moved to Dawson Creek in 57 and built Superweld (A&C Cylinder Head Rebuilders). They retired to Vernon and lived there for 31 years. Mom was in Eastern Star for 50 years and received her Worthy Matron pin and was also a Grand Representative. She belonged to Daughter’s of the Nile, the Vernon Artist League and was an incredible artist. She moved to Columbus Court for the last five years and enjoyed her active life there with a great group of friends and staff. She loved scrabble, crosswords, bridge and any kind of card/board game. She spent the last 2 months 1 mile from Bunnie’s and they enjoyed their daily games right up until her death.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 11:00 a.m. at the City Cemetery in Dawson Creek where she will be interred in her son Brian and husband Bert’s grave – lunch to follow.
