Wallace Wolpert

Wallace Bruce Wolpert passed away May 18, 2014. He was born March 26, 1924 in Swan River Manitoba, the youngest of four children, to Henry ‘Herman’ and Ethel Wolpert. Wally was married to Nettie on October 19th, 1943. In 2013 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. His first job at the Crescent Creamery and school years were in Swan River, MB. He also joined the Armed Forces from 1941-44, being a member of the Legion for over 50 years. Wally worked for HBM & S Co. in Flin Flon, MB as a young man. He was avidly involved for 24 years volunteering with the fire dept. and served as president of the community club in Creighton SK. Wally also received a citation from the Governor General of Canada. After moving to Vernon BC in 1985 he worked at Valley Auction for 25 years to the late age of 86 years. The highlight of his life was spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wally enjoyed watching hockey and curling, a sport he played when his children were young. He enjoyed participating and supporting his grandson, Dallas, in hockey. Wally is survived by his loving wife Nettie Wolpert; eldest daughter Myrna (Dennis) Glowa, their sons Ray, Kevin and Michael; son Herman Wolpert and his daughters Denise and Sandy; daughter Penny Wolpert and her sons Cody, Ryan and Dallas. Eleven great-grandchildren further survive him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Close family and friends will attend the celebration of life and burial on June 6, 2014.
