Walter Bergey of Vernon, passed away on October
29, 2006, at the age of 89, surrounded by his precious family. He will be greatly missed by Eleanor, his wife of 60 years, daughters Karen (Ken) Macdonald of Kelowna, Lois (David) Spangler of
Abbotsford, and Leanne Topham of Vernon. Missing their Grandfather are 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Walter was predeceased by 4 brothers and
1 sister. He is survived by brothers Conrad (Nadine) of Texas, Leslie (Sheila) of Kamloops, and Henry (Julie) of Saskatchewan.
Walter’s strong faith in the Lord led him to minister to others through the Seventh-day Adventist church for 35 years. He worked across western Canada in the conferences of Manitoba/Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. He pastored churches in Surrey, Langley District and Armstrong. In retirement, Walter continued to serve others through the Ministerial Association of Armstrong, the Upper room mission in Vernon, and the Mara Community Church, as well as continuing to minister in various Seventh-day Adventist churches in the Okanagan as needed.
Walter was renowned for his love of children, his sense of humour, and his pride in his family. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Community Care, Palliative Care team and Noric House for their compassionate care. A celebration of Walter’s life will be held on Sunday, November 12, at 10 A.M. at the Vernon Seventh-day Adventist church, 1802 – 45th Ave., Vernon.
