It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of Walter. He is survived by his wife Joy in Vernon and two sons, Raymond (Robbi) in Victoria and Brian (Leo) in Hong Kong, and his two adored grandchildren Katey and Alex. He was born in Bridgeford, Saskatchewan in 1933 and grew up on a farm there. He began farming himself at age seventeen in Saskatchewan, and in 1968 he and a friend traveled to Australia. On the ship via New Zealand, he met his future wife Joy. They were married in Calgary in 1968. He and Joy raised two boys on a farm west of Olds, Alberta. On retirement in 1993 they sold the farm and moved to Vernon to be near the cabin at Swansea Point, Mara Lake where he spent countless enjoyable days. He used his many skills as a volunteer to help establish the Allan Brooks Nature Centre and the Okanagan Science Centre, both in Vernon BC.

Cremation. A celebration of life to be held in the coming summer at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home (TBA). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Allan Brooks Nature Centre. (https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/19104)
