Walter Hugh Martin, CD., Retired RCEME passed away at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on January 27, 2022. Wally was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on the 31st of January 1930. Son of Jeffrery and Emily Martin and was brought up in Birch River, Man and Almonte Ontario.
He enlisted in the Army in February 1948 and served in Canada, Korea, and Germany. He retired from the service in December 1981.
The family lived in Westport for 29 years prior to moving to Amherstview in 2004. They then moved to Vernon in 2017.
He is survived by Eunice, his wife of 71 years and his son Robert, Ottawa, ON and his daughter Joan, Vernon, BC.
He was predeceased by his son Jeffery, brother Robert, and two grandchildren.
He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Wally was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 542, Westport and Royal Edward of Cataraqui Masonic Lodge #92.
In keeping with Wally's wishes, cremation has taken place and internment will be in the Auld Kirk Cemetery in Almonte, Ontario.
