Walter Leroy (Wally) Peterman

was born on May 27th, 1922 in Central Butte, Saskatchewan and we, his family are saddened to announce that our Dad passed away on September 16th, 2011 in Heron Grove at the age of 89 years.

He was preceded in death by our loving Mother, Jean; his parents, Margaret & Louis; and two sisters, Bertha Thompson and Alice Sabrow. Dad is survived by two brothers, Wilfred (Mary) and Milton (Shirley); one sister, Margaret (Bill) Bishop and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Doug (Joyce) and Tim (Deanna) of Vernon, B.C., and Ed (Pam) of Lake Country, B.C.; his daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Potts of Enderby, B.C., Darlene (Bruce) Wert and Sandi (Tim) Hammer of Lumby, B.C. and Teresa Mackiewich of Vernon, B.C.; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Dad was a long time resident of Vernon and made friends easily wherever he went. He had a real passion for hockey and fishing as well as his many years spent working in roofing and trucking. He always loved driving his truck and later in life one could see him cruising around town on his scooter.

Cremation preceded a Reception which will be held in the Bethel Tea Room on Saturday, September 24th, 2011 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of our Dad to his favorite charity, Variety – The Children’s Charity Of B.C., 4300 Still Creek Drive, Burnaby, B.C. Our family would like to give special thanks to all the very special people at Heron Grove “Cottage #2” who have cared for our Dad and helped us all through this very trying and difficult time. We love you all. A big thank you is also extended to Gert for being such a good help to our Dad.
