WARREN BRUCE ROLLS died August 15, 2003 at the age of 96 with family by his side. Warren was predeceased by his beloved wife Alma in 1997, and by daughter Maureen Bryant in 1998. Born in Detroit, Michigan, in 1907, Warren was about 5 years old when his family came west and settled in the mining town of Hedley, BC. In 1925 he moved to Penticton to work at the Ford garage. Prior to leaving Hedley he had met Alma Sheridan, of Cawston, and in 1926 they were married. A few years later Warren was hired as a salesman at the Chrysler dealership. Eventually he was made a partner and the firm became Hunt Rolls Limited. As well as working in the automobile industry, Warren fulfilled a dream of becoming an orchardist, buying the first of several orchards in 1943. From his youth he was an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman and fishing remained an interest long into his retirement. Warren was involved in his community, becoming a member of the volunteer fire department as a young man and, as a businessman, the Rotary Club. His main interest, however, was always his wife and his two daughters, Maureen and Sharon, and their families in turn. Warren and Alma moved to Vernon in 1981 and celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 1996. He will be lovingly remembered and forever treasured by his daughter Sherry, and sons-in-law Bill Musselwhite and Verne Bryant, all of Vernon, and grandchildren David Bryant (Penticton), Sheila French and her husband David French (Kelowna), and Kim Musselwhite (Calgary); great-grandchildren Stephen, Richard, and Amanda French and Kate Gill (Calgary). Warren is also survived by his brother Doug (White Rock) and sister Dorothy and her husband Dunc Tennant (Osoyoos), as well as many nieces and nephews. Cremation will be followed by a family graveside service in Penticton. Arrangements by Vernon Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Dr. Philip and the caring staff at Polson Extended Care.
