February 1, 1953 - January 10, 2020
Wayne Galley passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday January 10, 2020 at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Wayne was born on February 1, 1953 in Oshawa Ontario to the late Paul & Lolita Galley. He married his high school sweetheart, Renate, in 1973 and had 3 beautiful daughters before moving to Vernon, British Columbia in 1989. Wayne continued with HSBC Bank until his retirement in December 2008.
Wayne was best known for his generosity and laughter. He really enjoyed having a good time and truly was the life of the party. He's been known to play a round or two of poker, with many wins over the years as he did not like to lose! He was also known as the pool shark growing up and bragged that he's still never lost a game!
Wayne and Renate loved to travel and travel they did.... From spending their 25th wedding anniversary riding camels in Egypt to eating Kangaroo in Australia a few years later. They enjoyed many cruises over the years with family and friends and discovered many cultures of the world such as Alaska, Scandinavia, Russia, Hong Kong, Scotland, and his last trip to Ireland where he finally got to see his Irish roots.
His love of golf was apparent by his many friends he's met over the years on the course who have become family. His retirement gave him the opportunity to enjoy both at the same time almost daily for many years. He really cherished these times!
Wayne is survived by his loving wife Renate of 46 years and his three daughters. Erika (Bruce) Moore, Nicole Reemeyer and Karin (Steve) Angerilli. He will be sadly missed by his 6 grandchildren whom he cherished deeply Asiah, Bianca, Nicolas, Trevor, Kaleb and Dominic and is predeceased by his grandson Kaden, Nicolas' twin brother. He is also survived by his brother Larry (Linda) Galley, their two sons and his brother in law Earl Stewart (predeceased by his sister Debbie) and their daughter Michelle.
A service will be held on Friday January 24, 2020 at 2 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home located at 45865 Hocking Ave Chilliwack. A special thank you to Doctor Liu and the amazing staff at Abbotsford Regional Hospital for their compassion and dedication during this difficult time.
He will be forever in our hearts!
