1940 ~ 2013

It is with profound sadness and a sense of great loss that the family of Wayne Walmsley announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. He was 72 years of age. He will be forever missed by his loving wife and best friend Viv; four daughters: Lorelei Widmann (Walter), Suzanne Martens (Sandy), Melissa Klassen (Dwayne), and Tanya Kwan; 12 grandchildren: Chris (Shylo), Josh (Katie), Jason (Shelby), Kevin, Justin (Jamie), Jenna (Scott), Julie, Richard, Jeff, Teghan, Braela, Lexynn; 4 great grandsons: Brayden, Emmett, Kylen and Karston. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Orval (Alta), Shorty (Edith), Aileen, Iris (Butch), Sharon (Don), Lorne (Charlotte), Pat, Ila (Kevin), Janice, sister-in- law, Irene (Jesse) and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was born November 4, 1940 in Swan River Manitoba. He grew up in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, moving to Mica Creek to work on the dam as a loader operator. When it closed he moved his family to Vernon, BC to start up his own excavating business, Wayne’s Excavating. Upon retirement, he and his wife Viv moved to Kelowna, BC. He was an accomplished equipment operator, subcontracting to BC Gas and MarWest. His greatest joys in his life were his family, spending time at the lake, puttering around in his yard and taking great pride in his gardening. He loved flying model airplanes with his son-in-law Walter. His kindness, generosity and humour touched the lives of all who knew him. He always put others first over himself. Anyone fortunate enough to spend time with him will have an imprint in their heart forever. A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, June 30 at 1:00 PM, open house to follow 2:00 – 4:00, Ellison Hall, 4411 Old Vernon Road, Kelowna, BC.
