Wesley Francis Decook passed away on the night of December 15, 2021 in Vernon, BC at the age of 82. Wes was born on September 12, 1939, in Vancouver, BC to Iris and Gus DeCook. Wes was raised in East Vancouver and graduated from Van Tech High School. He moved to Squamish in the 1960's and worked in the family log hauling business with his dad, brother and nephews at Gus DeCook and Son's Trucking. Wes and Frances retired to the lake in Vernon and enjoyed many winters soaking up the sun in Arizona. Wes was the life of the party, and he loved being on the water, hunting, hockey, skiing, good stories, and country music.
Wes was predeceased by his parents, Iris and Gus and brother, Ken. He is survived by his devoted wife Frances, daughters: Denise (Dave), Dianne, Barb (Matt), and Laura (Nikolas); and sister Marian (Garth) Maguire. Wes will also be missed by his grandchildren Jeremy, Christian, Joshua, Elijah, Charlotte, Thomas, Susanna, Rebecca and Robert; his nephews Michael, Dan, Jamie and Will. He will be fondly remembered by cousins and friends in Canada and the United States. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Lindsay Pritchett and Debbie Phillips for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wes' memory can be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
