Wilfred James Hicks died on May 2, 2003 in Noric House at 91 years of age. Wilf is survived by: Edith, his wife of 64 years; son Ken and Cindy of Whistler, B.C.; sisters-in-law, Isabel Heatherington of Seattle, Wash., Olive Hicks of Toronto, Ont. and several nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends. Wilf started with the W. H. Malkins & Co. in Vancouver in 1927. He was manager in Prince Rupert, Kamlooops, Nelson and Vernon. He retired in 1976. Wilf was founder and first President of the Vernon Gyro Club and he was honoured in April of this year at their 50th Anniversary Celebration. He was active in the Vernon Chamber of Commerce. Wilf took care of Queen Silver Star’s float for many years. He enjoyed nature and travelling. Wilf was the son of a Methodist Minister. He was always very active with Trinity United Church and worked on several committees. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2003 at Trinity United Church with Reverend Bob Thompson officiating.
