At this great time of sorrow, we regret to announce the passing of Wilhelmina Maria Catharina Bongers on December 17, 2012 in Armstrong, BC at 95 years of age. Wilhelmina was born on February 26, 1917 in Holland. She immigrated to Canada with her husband William and four children. The family lived and farmed throughout Grindrod, Revelstoke, Kelowna, and in 1961 settled in Armstrong. Wilhelmina was a devoted catholic and an active member of the CWL. She surrounded her life with her family, farming and gardening. Wilhelmina was the last of her family. She was predeceased by her husband William, her sons Hugo, Harry, and Fred, and her son-in-law Alfred Luttmerding. Wilhelmina will be lovingly remembered by her children Thea Luttmerding, Ria Johnson, Ellie (Lyle) Smith, Peter Bongers (Terry), and Maryann (Jeff) Gamble, and her daughters-in-law Linda, Debbie, and Lyn. She will be further cherished by her 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Prayers are at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (3335 Patterson Street, Armstrong, BC). Funeral Mass to take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (3335 Patterson Street, Armstrong, BC). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Huntington Society of Canada (Suite 400, 151 Frederick St, Kitchener, ON, N2H 2M2).
