April 1, 1936 - January 25, 2020
Our beloved brother, uncle and friend was called home to Jesus on January 25th, 2020. Willi was born to Hermann and Alwine Sass on April 1st, 1936 in Kadobiszcze, Poland. He was the second son of seven children born to the Sass family. Willi, along with his mother and siblings, immigrated to Canada in 1952 through sponsorship from Faith Baptist church. He worked as a carpenter together with his brother Art and worked on projects like the Mica Dam in Revelstoke and the Vernon Jubilee Hospital among many others. He enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He loved going for coffee at A&W and hosting pizza parties in his backyard in the summer. Willi was a character and liked to joke around. He loved telling stories and seemed to have a nickname for everyone. He had a soft spot for the kids in the family and always had a treat, some tic tacs or a loonie for the "buck" store when the kids came over. Willi was kind, generous, and always lent a helping hand without hesitation. He is survived by his sisters Martha Sass and Erika Berger as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss his humor and fun-loving nature dearly.
A Celebration of Willi's Life will be held at Faith Baptist Church (3908 27th Street, Vernon, B.C.) on Saturday, February 15th, 2020 at 1:00 pm where he was a long-time member.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may make donations in memory of Willi to the Faith Baptist breakfast and lunch club for kids. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Lemiski and the team at the Hamlets for their care of Willi over the years.
