A well-known marathon runner crossed the finish line for the last time at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on February 6, 2010, as Bill Delaney passed through at the age of 80 years.
Bill was a career military man in the Canadian Army, followed by operating businesses and working for Canada Post. His interests were varied over the years, as a private licensed pilot, a dedicated long-distance cyclist, as well as a marathon runner. He also loved traveling, and over the years he managed to visit much of this world.
Bill was predeceased in 1996 by his beloved wife, Shirley. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by children: Gail (Ron) Nichol, Leonard (Luqi) Delaney, Teresa (Greg) Thompson, and Kent Delaney. He is also survived by six grandchildren, brother Dennis (Eleanor) Delaney of Oliver, and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Cremation.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, February 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Vernon Funeral Home, with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating.
