July 10, 1949 - January 31, 2020
The family of Bill Peacock is sad to announce the passing of this great man on January 31, 2020 after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer at the age of 70. Bill was born to Winston and Joyce Peacock July 10, 1949 in England. They immigrated to Canada in 1951.
He grew up hunting and fishing with his buddies and continued throughout his life. He met the love of his life, Poppy and they were married in 1971. They built their house in Lavington BC and where they spent their life and raised their family. Bill worked at Vernon Machine and when that closed, he opened his own welding business Lavington Welding which continued for many years before he became a millwright at Lavington Tolko Mill until he "retired" in 2005. He continued to work for friends, keeping busy for many years after.
Bill and Poppy loved to camp and fish and go on many camping adventures throughout BC, Alberta, Alaska, Yukon, & Northwest Territories. Bill was an avid outdoorsman and recently won the lieutenant governor general's award for marksmanship. He was a proud member of the Lavington community, a former member of the Lavington Volunteer Firefighters, slo-pitch, snowmobile club and Vernon Fish and Game Club.
He will be sorely missing by his best friend and love of his life Poppy, his son Tony (Kathy) Houska, daughters, Tammy (Miles) Fry, Laura Peacock and Jason (Sue)Lynn and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by both of his parents Winston and Joyce, brother Brian and sister Gwen. He also leaves behind many great friends and family that are too numerous to name. He was appreciated for his dry wit, knowledge and ability to fix almost anything.
There will be a drop in celebration of life at Coldstream Women's Institute Hall at 1-4 pm February 8th, 2020. In lieu of flowers, donations to Vernon Hospice House would be appreciated. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's on-line obituary @ www.MyAlternatives.ca
