William “Bill” Blakey Crerar


It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of William “Bill” Blakey Crerar on October 29, 2013 in Falkland, BC. Bill was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. Bill was born August 18th, 1954 in Armstrong, BC. After high school, Bill attended NAIT and continued to work in the mining industry in Alberta before moving back to Vernon, BC in 1999. Bill was an avid fisherman who loved spending his time on the water. Bill enjoyed the fight of catching a fish and he also enjoyed watching other’s catch fish, especially his children. He took great pride in teaching all 3 of his children to tie flies and teaching his son how to fly fish. Above all, he loved and cherished his children; they were his greatest achievements. Bill was predeceased by his parents: Jack and Evelyn Crerar; and his brother in-law: Dennis Carson. Bill is survived by his 3 children: Matthew, Kaitlin and Sarah and their mother Tannis; brother Bob (Marg); sisters: Judy (Lloyd), Catherine (Gerrard), and Wendy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed and always in our hearts. A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 2:00pm at Pleasant Valley Cemetery (4311 Pleasant Valley Road Vernon,BC).

A Fisherman’s Prayer

God grant that I may live to fish for another shining day, but when my final cast is made, I then most humbly pray, when nestled in your landing net as I lay peacefully asleep, you’ll smile at me and judge that I am good enough to keep.
