William Hibbert


We regret to announce the sudden passing on Sunday, November 24th, 2002 of William Charles Hibbert at the age of 88 years at Noric House, Vernon, BC. Bill is survived by his loving family: his wife, Dorothy of Vernon; his son Garth (Jeanette) Hibbert of Vernon; his daughter Gloria (Leonard) Heydlauff of Manyberries, Alberta; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; a sister Irene Willows of Meadow Lake, Sask.; a brother Morris (Delores) Peterson of Canora, Sask., and six nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Vancouver but grew up on the family farm in the Rose Valley area of Saskatchewan. He married Dorothy in 1940 and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he was stationed at many airbases across Canada. After the war, the couple settled in Wadena, Saskatchewan where they raised their family. Bill took correspondence courses in administration and was employed first as the town administrator, then as the Wadena Hospital administrator. These jobs paved the way to a career as a hospital and health administrator for the federal government first in North Battleford, then in Regina, and finally in Winnipeg. Bill and Dorothy retired in 1975 to Vernon. Bill was a member of the Legion and was also very active in the church. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 27th, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. from the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with Pastor Henry Friesen officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Pleasant Valley Tea Room. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home (250-542-4333).
