William “Bill” Mihalcheon
On August, 7th William “Bill” Mihalcheon, passed away at the age of 86 years, in Vemon B.C. He was born on August 11, 1923 in Vegreville, Alberta, to Tom and Veronica Mihalcheon, one of eight children. Bill married Tillie on April 15, 1952 in Vernon B.C, and they resided in the Vernon area all their married life. Bill enjoyed many occupations throughout his life, including years as a Carpenter, Plumber, Logging Contractor and City of Vernon employee who could be seen driving the Zambonee at the Civic and Priest Valley arenas for several years.
Bill loved to renovate houses, and over his lifetime several houses in the area were renovated by Bill. Bill was a great trout fisherman and could be found most spring and fall days fishing with Tillie on all mountain lakes in the area.
Bill is survived by Tillie, wife of 58 years, sons Randy (Donna); Ray (Teresa); Rick (Anne); Grandchildren, Chris, Kirsten, Kevin, Erica, sisters Helen Toma, and Jeannie Kotke and many nephews, nieces and friends. It was Bill’s wish that he be cremated and that no memorial service would be held. Rather, he would like Friends and Family to gather at a “Wake” have a few drinks and light refreshments in remembrance of him.
In accordance with Bill’s wishes, his “Wake” will be on August 22, 2010 between 1:00 and 3:00 pm at the Masonic hall, 3005, 32street Vemon BC.
