William (Bill) Poggemoeller
Feb. 14, 1928 – Nov. 4, 2012
William (Bill) Poggemoeller was born Feb. 14, 1928 in Luseland, Saskatchewan and was called home to be with our Lord on Nov. 4, 2012.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Millie, to whom he was married for 60 years, two sons, Larry (Linda) and Dave (Debbie), grandsons Sean (Roxanne), Cory (Benita), and Gregory, two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Melissa and two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Alexander. Bill also leaves sisters Ruth, Karoline, Elsie, Lilly, Gertrude, brothers Ernest and Norman, and many special extended family and friends. Bill was predeceased by daughter Debra in 1976, and sisters Hilda, Teresa and Sophie.
Bill moved to Vernon in 1931. As a young man he ran a team of workhorses throughout the BX and Vernon area, at the same time helping to run the family farm. In his teens Bill started to work in a sawmill and soon found his true talent in life as a millwright and foreman. He built and ran several sawmills throughout the years in Merritt, Sugar Lake, Vernon, Salmon Arm and finally Enderby.
Bill married Millie Kaminski in 1952 and together they raised their 3 children on a farm in the BX. Bill spent much of his spare time enjoying his children and grandchildren, the outdoors, camping, and walks through the forest.
He will always be remembered as a hard-working man who got the job done.
Bill’s family would like to extend sincere appreciation for the loving care provided by all the staff at Noric House and by Dr. Abri DeBeer.
A celebration of life will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5151 Alain Rd. on Fri., Nov. 9 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
