William Robert (Bill) Gauthier was born on January 10th, 1953 in Vernon, B.C. and was suddenly and unexpectedly called Home to be with his Lord and Saviour on December 26th, 2016 at the age of 63 years.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon; two sons, Russell and Rob; one daughter, Kylie; two daughters-in-law, Naomi and Jenny; six grandchildren, Abigail, Isaac, Eliana, Emily, Riley and Nathaniel; one sister, Susan (Mike) Hoyland; his father, Robert Gauthier; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma.

Bill grew up in Richmond and Ucluelet, B.C. and after graduating from High School he moved to Nimpo Lake where he worked for the Department of Highways. In 1974 Bill transferred to Williams Lake where he met and married his wife Sharon on May 10th, 1975. He transferred again to Fernie, B.C. in 1979 where he worked as the Crew Foreman. In the fall of 1980 Bill left the Department of Highways and moved to Vernon, B.C. where he purchased Al’s Septic Service and Dave’s Pumping. Bill purchased Eddie’s Blacktop in 1988 and owned and operated the business until 2012. After his retirement Bill worked part time for Briteland and most recently at Asphalt Valley.

In Bill’s younger years he enjoyed playing baseball, skiing and leading worship in the church. Bill loved serving in the church and acted as an elder in several churches throughout his life. He also was an avid fisherman and couldn’t wait to get out on a boat. The most important part of Bill’s life was his family; he loved spending time with them and they loved him so much.
