WILLIAM TRANT

TRANT

William Harvey

1938 – 2011

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Bill, on Monday, November 14th, 2011 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

Bill was born in Vancouver, BC and raised in Bella Coola. He moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where he met and married his wife, Betty, and had two children, Laurel and David. In 1965, he moved his family to Vernon where his youngest daughter, Gail, was born and where he built his family house on 11th Street. Bill was successfully self-employed with Bill’s Lino and Carpets and later retired to working for the Vernon and Winfield Fruit Union.

Bill was larger than life. He loved socials with family and friends and took particular pride in the joy of having grandsons, Cody and Levi, to carry on the family name. During his lifetime, whether fishing, hunting, or canoeing in the mountains, farming his five acres, playing pool, crib, or Thirty-One at the bar room pubs, gambling at the casino, having lunch and coffee with his Village Green Mall buddies, or outrunning the law while driving, Bill was all about being with the people he cared for while enjoying his favourite activities. Many earlier accomplishments and experiences he held dear to his heart included his friendships and family times with the Webster’s, Robatzek’s, Kilborn’s, Pattyson’s, Henselin’s, and Davies, to name a few. From summer fun times at his cabin, boating and water skiing, to snowmobiling and snow skiing in the winter, he was a man of adventure. Also close to him was his special relationship with Wanita Applebee, her family and many, many other lifelong friends, many who have already passed away. Sadly, Bill was predeceased by his son, David, on December 28th, 2003.

To those of you who are still among us and who have touched our lives, we invite you to come and celebrate Bill and share your memories and stories of him with us as we say goodbye to a great man and the best Dad.

We love you, Dad, and will miss you very much.

Those friends wishing to pay their last respects to Bill may do so at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on November 22nd, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Celebration of Bill’s Life will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel followed by a reception in the tea room.
