Winifred May Crerar
1908 – 2013
Winifred passed away in Vernon, B.C. on Sunday, February 3rd, 2013 at the age of 104 years. She was born in England and came to Canada as a child with her parents. Winifred was raised and educated in the Falkland, Nicola and Vernon areas. After her marriage in 1930 to David Crerar, she became fully involved in both raising a family and the running of livestock operations involving sheep, cattle and feed crops in the Lumby, Vernon and Mara areas for over 50 years. Winifred had a long association with horses and was a skilled horseback rider. She was a keen observer of nature and a good neighbour to all, often sharing the produce of her many gardens over the years. Her earlier retirement years were spent near Enderby and for the past 16 years, she lived at the farm of her son, George.
Winifred was predeceased by both her husband, David Crerar and her brother, William Palmer. She is survived by her three sons, Peter, Richard (Nancy) and George; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Mary McNee.
In respecting Winifred’s wishes, she was cremated and there will be no funeral service held.
The family wish to express their appreciation to Dr. Perrier and the staff of the Polson North Unit of Vernon Jubilee Hospital for their care of Winifred.
