Winifred (Winnie) Bertha (nee Clements) of Princeton, born on February 24, 1930 in Prince George, B.C, passed away at her daughter’s home in Grand Forks on April 1, 2007 after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her loving husband Don, mother Daisy, father Joseph, and brother Jack. She is survived by her daughter Terry (husband Wayne) Woodruff of Grand Forks, son Bob Wright of Victoria, only granddaughter Patricia (husband Doug) Marshall and great grandchildren Ashton, Trinity, and Ellysa all of Enderby, sister Joan (husband Don) Herbert of Vernon, brother Bob Clements also of Vernon, nieces and nephews, and her friends especially Girleen Sweeney of Princeton.
Our mother will be deeply missed, and continues to be an inspiration to us all – “every day I can laugh is worth it”.
No service by request. Mom and Dad spent many happy years together in the Lower Mainland, Salmon Arm, Union Bay, and Princeton and their ashes will be spread in the ocean, at their request, at a later date.
The family extends many thanks for the care and compassion of the doctors and health care team at the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior (Kelowna) especially Dr. David Kim, Dr. Fyles, and the radiation technologists; her Grand Forks team Dr. Geoff Coleshill and Homecare nurses Rozanne Knox and Marie Kinakin; and to the staff, volunteers and nurses at the Southern Interior Rotary Lodge for their excellent support during Mom’s treatment in Kelowna.
Donations, if desired, to the BC Cancer Society or the Southern Interior Rotary Lodge (2252 Abbott St, Kelowna, BC V1Y 1E2) would be appreciated.
