Life is eternal; and love is immortal;
and death is only a horizon;
And a horizon is nothing save the
limit of our sight.
Waiting for his loved ones beyond the horizon is Yossef (Yossi) Gershony of Coldstream – beloved husband of Joyce Gershony, and beloved father of Yarden and Sharon Gershony. Yossi and Joyce met in Israel in 1978, and over the years they were blessed with two beautiful children, and an abundance of riches in the extended Hystad family in Vernon and the extended Gershony family in Israel, as well as friends. We never lacked for love, laughter, or support.
The family would like to thank the Vernon Cancer Center for their compassionate and professional care of Yossi during his brief but courageous battle with cancer, and the North Okanagan Hospice House for the same care. Thank you as well to all the friends, and the Kidston School community, who have been there with food for the body and the spirit. No funeral service was held at Yossi’s request. Instead, the family had a simple and meaningful ceremony in his honour. In lieu of flowers, friends who so wish may make a donation in his memory to the Vernon Cancer Center or the Hospice House.
Yossi was a man of integrity. He stood up for what he believed in, and enjoyed the simple things in life. For those who knew him well, he was greatly loved and greatly respected. He will be dearly missed. He was the rock of our family, and led us quietly with strength and wisdom. We will carry that strength and wisdom forward.
Shalom ve lait’rot
