Politicians doing their job

I would like to voice my opinion regarding the proposed remand centre in Lumby.

SAFE FOODS

In her letter published Jan. 7, Heidi Osterman asked that Colin Mayes and Liberal politicians be told that citizens do care about real food and natural farming, specifically Bill C-474.

Demanding a voice

Often a sense of community outweighs actual political borders.

Cell habits need to change

Police in B.C. are sending a clear signal to drivers insisting on using hand-held electronic devices while at the wheel.

Volunteers honoured

On Jan. 6, the Right Honourable Stephen Harper announced a new Volunteer Awards Program to recognize Canadians who devote their time, energy and resources to make a difference in the lives of others.

Residents deserve better

The mayor's pitch for a prison has confused everyone by pushing an unpopular agenda and dividing our close knit community. Referendum required

Lumby village council is about to make a decision on the most significant development in Lumby's history: the Prison. For better or worse, if a prison is located in Lumby, it will change Lumby forever. What scares me is the thought that such a huge decision will be made through a phone poll. A phone poll in which a person can register to be contacted by a pollster. If this plan is followed through with, the results will always be in doubt.

Village must hold vote

Apparently some members of Lumby council are starting to get the message about public involvement.
