Resident says there is a need to help those who are homeless

During these past cold nights, I have driven by a few unfortunate people who have to sleep in the bitter cold with only a sleeping bag between them and minus 20.

It is deeply disturbing to hear the wind howling outside my house and to think that there are people in our city who can't find shelter. Living in a country as prosperous as Canada, it is disgraceful that there are people who still face this problem, every winter.

Driving to and from work, I pass the vacant military camp and wonder if it could be put to any good use as a temporary winter shelter.

As someone who now has the power to vote, I see it as crucial to try and make a difference in my community, whether by simply making a suggestion or by writing a letter.
