I have read with interest the often tendentious recent correspondence on the installation of a rainbow crosswalk. I have just come across the following quote by Jesse Jackson in a speech to the Democratic National Convention in Atlanta July 19, 1988.
"When I look out at this convention, I see the face of America, red, yellow, brown, black and white. We are all precious in God's sight — the real rainbow coalition."
Whether you are of a religious persuasion or not, surely that is the way things should be.
