Resident credits his neighbours for helping stop a wildfire

Just wanted to take a moment to give a big shout out to Bob from Cosens Bay for being the first responder to the fire in Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park.

It was Bob who rushed over from his home in Cosens Bay, with his son and their portable fire suppression gear that kept the park from going up in flames.

His quick actions controlled the fire and got it under control.

Also a big thanks to Mike and his boat that helped apprehend the suspect.

The great work by a couple local citizens are the reason there was no larger event.

This is the third time in the last 10 years that local efforts by everyday citizens have kept Kal park safe.

The first fire was called in by Cosens Bay homeowners that brought out the water bombers and fire crews for a careless cigarette that was discarded.

The second was a lightning strike on a tree that started a fire, that  fire was responded to again by Cosens Bay homeowners and secured until forestry crews could arrive.

It’s great when everyone can come together to help out our neighbours.
