Grateful for help

Resident has praise for business who provided assistance during a difficult time

I miss my dog Shadow. She has been my constant and most faithful companion for the last seventeen years.

It was with a very heavy heart that I watched her health decline this last year due to old age.  There was not a thing that I could do to stop it.  Time was going to win this fight, and despite medications to help with her arthritis and pain, which as a side effect caused liver problems, her body was just giving out.

One by one, she stopped doing her favorite activities, and when the time came that I had to carry her out to the grass to do her business, and she could barely stand to do that, I knew that the time had come to make the dreaded decision.

Her quality of life was now so poor that I had to do what was right for my best friend. I had to let her go.  It was time to end her pain.  I started calling around to see how much it would cost to euthanize Shadow, and I was astounded at the costs.

I had planned to have her cremated and have her ashes laid to rest with mine, but what with all of the fees and costs associated with the entire process, I knew that this was not going to happen and in fact, I was going to have trouble coming up with just the fees for putting my poor girl out of her misery.

It turned out that I was lucky enough to be working with a wonderful person who had a contact at K9 Control and after contacting them, told me that K9 would be willing to cover the euthanization fees for me. I had never felt such relief in my life. I could now end Shadow’s pain, and it did, but not mine. I still miss Shadow every day.

I am very grateful to K9 control for their generous help and wish that others would emulate their compassion.
