Kal Pier

I would like to weigh in on the issues with Kal Lake pier.

The issue is not the pier. It is that hooliganism is permitted.

I don’t think we would hear politicians in White Rock, Santa Monica, etc. suggest closing the pier because of illegal incidents and activities. Rather, patrol and enforcement would be stepped up.

If the local RCMP (30 per cent of our operation budget) can’t solve the problem, then let’s put up security cameras and prosecute the few offenders rather than punish the whole community by shutting the pier.

It’s time that we support the majority of our law-abiding citizens rather than let a handful of hooligans spoil our community.
