Resident opposed to a proposed amphitheatre in Coldstream

As an attendee at the second meeting presented by the Okanagan Summer Festival Society, it was stated by their representatives, John Knapp and Dianne Bond, that a referendum on the proposed theatre was not an option for Coldstream residents as the land in question is owned by the Ministry of Advanced Education and had nothing to do with the District of Coldstream.

Now, please someone correct me if I'm wrong as I'm sure will happen. Isn't this the same landowner that was involved in the process for the lease arrangements, for the athletic field, and didn't the respected districts, Vernon, and Coldstream, have a referendum vote for the acceptance or rejection of the proposal?

Due diligence was applied to this endeavor, so why not the same professionalism and respect for the voters of Coldstream?

The OSF representatives were questioned as to other sites entertained as possible venue alternatives.

The answer by Ms. Bond was that another site had been approached, but OSF received an emphatic no, so they moved forward with the present proposed site.

It was also stated that they could not reveal the other site.

OSF, you accepted a no from other people, accord us the same courtesy.

We will call for, or force a referendum vote, which is I'm sure not what you want.

Bach, and Chopin, are beautiful, without a doubt, but in  Coldstream, we find that silence is golden.
