Noise concerns

Resident concerned about pickle ball activity at Sawicki Park

The noise from the pickleballers at Sawicki Park is becoming an incredible nuisance for the surrounding neighbours.

Two summers ago, I was excited to see the district had decided to resurface the courts and repaint lines. My girlfriend and I looked forward to playing more tennis across the street, however the courts were invaded by a mass of pickle ball players.

I appreciate the fact that this is a growing sport, especially for an older crowd. However, the amount of time that the pickleball groups have been using the courts makes it very difficult to get any time for tennis.

Add to that, the incessant noise from a large group of players and it becomes a constant annoyance each morning or evening I step on my deck or sit in the yard. I have had numerous guests that visit ask what that horrible racket is from the park. Pickleballers. I realize that there were numerous complaints in the past from the Mt. Ida courts and thus they seem to have moved down to Sawicki.

It is time the district works with these groups to accommodate them in a location that is not surrounded by residential homes. There needs to be a court made available at the Marshall Field tennis courts.
