Safe for cyclists?

I walk on Middleton Way several times a week.

In the earlier morning I saw cyclists coasting at a good speed down the hill and past Sawicki Park.

I saw cars two, three, four, in a row passing the cyclists.

Now I see beside Sawicki Park, where Mt. Beaven Road joins onto Middleton Way, concrete curbs are in place completely blocking the bike lane.

If cars are to the cyclist’s left, he can’t turn into the traffic lane. If he’s going faster and puts his brakes on, he possibly could go flying over the handlebars, landing on the concrete.

If he’s lucky, he will wait for the traffic to pass or have to walk his bike over the curb etc. So he may decide it’s safer to drive his car. Look it over for yourself. Do you think this situation has cyclists safely in mind? I don’t.

I also wonder how snowplowing will be with those curbs in place?
