Forty-three years ago, I was elected as representative for the school board.

My wife and I had five kids attending school so we thought we should do our bit.

The teacher’s rep and I met in the National Cafe, now long gone.

We had a cup of coffee and decided the teachers should get a 25 cents raise in pay, which they accepted.

Things have changed haven’t they?
